In spite of the Baseball Hall of Fame being opened in Cooperstown, NY on the 100th anniversary of Doubleday’s alleged invention, Doubleday himself never claimed to have invented baseball. A commission fourteen years after his death made the determination way too late for Doubleday to refute the claims.
