Cherokee Purple Tomato Plant

$3.00 / per plant

Many people say the Cherokee Purple heirloom is the best-tasting tomato available. It has good size, firm flesh and beautiful color — very deep red with dark green shoulders draped from the top. It’s more difficult to grow than modern varieties, however, because it doesn’t have built-in genetic resistance to common tomato diseases like early and late blight. It often requires spraying with anti-fungal solutions. Plants bear large numbers of 8 to 12-ounce fruits about 72 days after transplanting.

Plants are 10″-12″ tall now. Keep moist but not soaked until transplanting. Wait until mid-May to move them to your garden, unless nighttime cover is added to protect them from late frost.
