A Fortuitous Friday, Friends of the St. Isidore Market!
Fortuitous? Why yes! Our Market is open again for Online Pre Orders! Fortuitous also because I overlook the Kanawha River as I write to you. I am in Charleston for the second time in five weeks to attend the 2024 WVU Extension Small Farm Conference where I am making friends and finding more allies to increase food security and local food access in the Eastern Panhandle and around our beloved Mountain State.
Thank You to everyone who came out to our Market last evening! I trust our staff and volunteers took care of you well. Rest assured, I fully intend to be back with you at our Market this coming Thursday, February 29th! So Start Your Order and enjoy our curated selection of over 210 farm fresh local foods and artisan products!
- This Market week contains two most important national days: National Strawberry Day on the 27th and National Toast Day on the 29th. To ensure proper celebrating ensues, we have added all new Strawberry Jam from Farmhouse Kitchen! Since not all of us eat jam with a spoon (though it’s tasty enough!), Bolivar Bread Bakery has you covered with many options for warm & golden brown toast: White Sandwich Bread & Wheat Sandwich Bread, famous Wild & Wonderful Sourdough, Chocolate Cherry Sourdough (it’s the last week for this!), Pickle Rye, and More! Don’t forget your Butter or Amish Roll Butter! I thusly declare this week: National Strawberry Toast Week! Gluten intolerant and low carb folks need not apply; as for the rest of us – Happy toasting!
- We’ve added back some of your favorite meats from Crestview Meat Market this week! Enjoy Cheese Franks, Sandwich Pepperoni, and 46 other meats and cheeses! Shop Crestview Meat Market.
- Bob O’Connor has released a new book to sate your Civil War curiosity: “Little Known Facts of the American Civil War – III”. Enjoy this and 29 other compelling titles covering local and Civil War history: Shop Bob O’Connor Books.
- Please note on J&M Homemade Snacks’ local Potato Chips: I have gotten feedback that the quality is not always as it should be. I am working with our supplier to improve logistics so that only the freshest and highest quality chips make it into your order. Thank you for your patience as we expand the products our Market offers! Small batch & local potato chips in 11 flavors!? Yes! Shop J&M Homemade Snacks.
Thank You for your continued support of our farmers, family businesses, and Community Markets Inc.! We can’t do this without YOU! Happy shopping through Tuesday at noon! We look forward to seeing you at our next St. Isidore Market on Thursday, February 29th! Can someone say: Leap Year!
Remember the poor in your Lenten alms.
Get Involved! Help the St. Isidore Market grow by: 1) Paying in cash or check if possible. It means more money stays locally and reaches our farmers, not credit card companies. 2) Forwarding this email to a friend. 3) Liking and sharing St. Isidore Market on Facebook. 4) Making a Donation to Community Markets Inc. so we can increase access to healthy food in our community. 5) Sharing our promotional flyers with others. 6) Volunteering at the Market. An extra set of hands always helps things run more smoothly! Contact me for more details.
